Planter Technology's CWI Container Irrigation Inserts, like any functioning system, typically require parts that need to be changed out every 3-5 years. Most of these parts are accessible from the surface, and should be easy to change.

BioGuard Squares – Treflan-impregnated root control squares prevents roots from growing into reservoirs. Highly recommended for plants with aggressive root systems or for long-term installations.

CWI and CWI Classic Training Video - Explains and trains use of the CWI and CWI Classic container irrigation systems. Done at a level which can be understood by all, whether field personnel or customers. Each video has 2 presentations, the first is 15 min. of English, the second is 17 min. of Spanish. Replacement Sensors - The sensor is the brains of the system. They are used on each manual container irrigation product. They may discolor or clog after 4-5 years. They are typically manufactured to specific sizes for each product, so should be ordered by insert size.

Long Replacement Sensors for CWI - Many of our customers have requested longer sensors for plants that need less water, or for plants in very low light conditions. The longer sensors are able to be set deeper into the soil, effectively creating a drier soil mass. Longer replacement sensors are blue in color to differentiate them from standard ones.

Stoppers - The rubber plug that seals the fill hole on all container irrigation systems. Typically made of natural rubber, they may dry out and crack after being exposed to the environment over 3-5 years.

Grommets - The small rubber grommet secures the sensor to the insert wall. One-sided grommets make replacement easy.

Changing parts is easy with the CWI.

 

To remove the moisture sensor, simply grasp it at the base near the insert wall and pull firmly.  To put in a new sensor, moisten the narrow end of the tube with a bit of dishwashing soap or saliva, and push it into the grommet with a firm twist.  The white reinforcement tube within the sensor should nearly disappear from view.

	Grommets should be replaced at the same time as the sensor.  Simply pull the rubber grommet out of the hole in the wall of the insert, and push a new one through the hole.
Stoppers need to be replaced every 3-5 years, or if they become significantly cracked or show wear. When inserting a stopper into the fill hole, always do so with a slight twist.
